School To Careers

Yolanda Said:

How do high school players get noticed by college scouts in their early high school careers?

We Answered:

Players that are highly ranked as freshmen and sophomores are starters for varsity or are in a large school program that has a stellar reputation at producing the best players, and often are considered the ones to watch. Prior to the internet, much of this was by word of mouth and good old fashioned recruiting.

What are the weaknesses of college/school careers advisors ?

We Answered:

Their losers, why do you think they do that for a job ........the best they can advise is not to follow in their foot steps!

Is the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire a good school for careers involving Computer Engineering?

We Answered:

It's a good "working class" school for Engineering. Nothing special, but nothing to be ashamed of either.

Check out Milwaukee School of Engineering.

I would like to change careers and become a vet tech/assistant. What online school do you recommend?

We Answered:

Ok, first you need to understand the kind of program you want to take.
Veterinary technician degree programs and veterinary assisting certification programs are not the same. Veterinary assisting is an entry-level position in veterinary facilities and requires no education or training. In most states veterinary technicians are required to have a college degree in veterinary technology from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited veterinary technology program and then to have passed at least the Veterinary Technician National Exam if not also a state regulatory exam.

So, you you want to be a veterinary assistant you can (but don't have to) take veterinary assisting courses, however it's not required and the courses offered are in no way regulated and may be provided by people with little to no education/training in the veterinary field. If you do choose to take veterinary assisting courses, you should look for ones that are offered by or approved by veterinary professionals.
But veterinary assisting courses will not allow you to sit for the veterinary credentialing exams.

If you want to be a veterinary technician then you need to select an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program to attend and then sit for the required exams. You can find a list of AVMA accredited programs through this website: http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/vette…

On your list above, all of the programs are veterinary ASSISTING programs. You would be better off spending the money on an accredited veterinary technology program.

I am leading a retreat for about 50 male and female high school freshman?

We Answered:

If the school is a public school and you are using funds from the school to lead this retreat I seriously suggest you refrain from part 2 to prevent you from potentially being involved in litigation.

What is fun for one part of the group may not be fun for the other, I'd suggest scheduling several activities and letting the kids choose between them. Something crafty, something woodsy, etc.
