Chicago Job Search

Leslie Said:

What is a good job searching strategy in chicago?

We Answered:

Try craiglist.org if you haven't already. Also, depending on what kind of position you are looking for try going to a large office building dressed professionally and hand out your resumes to every company. If you haven't already signed up with a temp agency do so, you can request to only be considered for direct hire or temp to hire positions. There are many temp agencies in the Chicago area and nothing says you can't sign up with all of them. Just be careful of the ones that want money to find you a job, there are so many out there that are free to you that there is no need to spend money to make it. Good Luck!

job searching in chicago- need advice?

We Answered:

Here are your best two options online and in general:

Chicago Reader - http://classifieds.chicagoreader.com/chi…

Chicago Craigslist - http://chicago.craigslist.org/

The Reader posts a lot of the same jobs over and over but has some new ones once in a while, and Craigslist offers a wide variey of jobs from low to high paying. I'm guessing that you don't have a lot of job experience (I worked at a grocery store when I was 17/18) so monster.com or careerbuilder probably won't do you any good...heck, I have a college degree and I had a really hard time finding a job on monster.com!

If I were to move to Chicago for a job and to raise a family, where would I move to?

We Answered:

Move to Deerfield. It is a suburb to the north. Very nice place to live. Or just live next to Wrigley Field. That is nice..

Wanda Said:

North Chicago burbs job searching?

We Answered:

Where, like what burbs? Some people I work with live in the city. I work for Walgreen Co. (Corporate, in Deerfield, IL) Specifically I work for Walgreens Health Services. The new budget is next month (beginning our fiscal year) so many new jobs will be opening up. Walgreen Co has competitive pay, great benefits (insurance and profit sharing) and it's a good location. Good Luck. Keep the internet searches going!
