Craigslist Job Search
Cindy Said:
Should I even bother using craigslist for a job search? We Answered:
I have to agree. There's so many fake or scam job postings on craigslist that it isn't worth it, at least to me.Susan Said:
What is a good job search engine? Craigslist sucks!!?We Answered:
Craigslist is full of spammers and scammers. Just be selective about which ad you respond to. Generally, avoid ads that use a gmail address as the reply to, any ad that promises absurd compensation and any ad full of misspellings or broken/fragmented english. Good job-hunting websites are:careerbuilder
monster
snagajob
indeed

Hotjobs is dying off but you can still check it, its worth a try. It has been my observations that retail/restaurant jobs will require you to come in and fill out an app in person. Don't waste time applying for those type postions online. Do it in person. Also, consider temp agencies as a source of short-term assignments before you go back to school.

Does Craigslist work for job search????????We Answered:
Hmmm. Good question. I thought my best source for jobs was my local newspaper's classified ad's section. I thought the best employers only advertised there. In turn, I thought only 'certain types' of employers posted to Craigslist. But, hey, its free for employers to post to Craigslist, not so for newspapers, so I've discovered more jobs to submit to on Craigslist than the local newspaper and have had more success with them. I don't know if it matters what kind of job you are looking for and if that effects your success, but yes, I think Craigslist is a good way to apply for and find a job. By the way, I look under the clerical, administrative, legal, paralegal postings in my local area. Just recently I got an interview within 1 day of responding. I wish you better luck.Natalie Said:
How helpful is craigslist for job search? We Answered:
It's funny how these pages are riddled with spam now...anyway, there are some legitimate offers on craigslist but you may have to dig deep. My friend got me a job with his company and he got his job by answering to a craigslist ad. He also was able to score a couple of other interviews for local offices through craigslist.
Dean Said:
New to using craigslist for job searches. How can I tell a scam from something legit?? PLEASE help.?We Answered:
If they send you to another website, they are a scam.If they ask you to contact them at a gmail or hotmail address, they are a scam.
Look for local businesses with local phone numbers and actual names of people you can contact.
Avoid the "marketing" companies. They will try to hire you to sell water filters or "energy saving" devices door-to-door. They don't tell you that until you have invested hours with them.
