May 2009 College Grad with BBA in Management Information Systems Need Job Hunt Tips?We Answered:
I have a B.S.E.E (electrical engineering) and have passed some of the actuary exams. I have 18 years experience in mathematical analytical work at the same employer, and was laid off 15 months ago. I've applied at 115 companies, had 2 interviews, and zero job offers.I've even applied at Starbucks, Sears, Home Depot, Target, Lowes, etc. Get ready to apply at ANYTHING, especially any job having nothing to do with your degree.
Now a days, there are literally thousands of applicants for every single open job. You will just have to get over the fact that your degree matters when you have that kind of competition. Forget about the salary they told you about in college. It is an employer's choice market. If you won't work for half what you think you should get, there are hundreds, if not thousands of people (with experience and even masters/doctorate degrees) that will work for less.
Every day I get job notices for temp-to-hire services. Often they have requirements of "MS or PhD required", yet the salary is offered at a paultry $12-$14 per hour. Very depressing. I live in Denver, so this isn't some stupid little cow town with mom & pop stores all over. We have a population of 5 million in the metro area.
Hate to be a buzz kill, but the sooner you learn this lesson, the better off you will end up being. Good luck.

How can Sarah Palin's supporters be so blind to the con job she is running on them.?We Answered:
Good one. Here's another good one; calling Obama a "socialist" after instituting a windfall profits tax and sharing the oil revenue with all of the citizens of Alaska.
Or fighting tooth and nail to bring more federal money to Alaska per capita than any other state in the union (by FAR) and then turning around and presenting herself as a "maverick" who will fight against earmarks. GIVE ME A BREAK!
The woman is so monumentally duplicitous it boggles the mind.
