Dental Job Search

Brian Said:

What is the proper way to search for a job in a dental clinic?

We Answered:

I would probably have asked someone in your dental program what they think, if you have any contact info of your supervisors i would give them a call and see.

If it were me I would search the listings first and see what's available. If nothing is listed or nothing that i wanted, i would bring in a resume and ask if the person who makes the hiring decisions is available to talk for just 30 seconds. Try to get some face time and make a good first impression and even it they are not hiring right then they might think of you if something opens up. DEFINITELY be POLITE, don't demand to see the boss, or sound mad the desk lady says that person is not available, in private offices it is usually the dentist who makes those decisions and he is very busy.

goodluck!

what's the maximum amount for each itemized deduction on federal tax return? Where can I find this information

We Answered:

There are no maximum amounts for most of them.

Charitable donations are limited to 50% of AGI. Any charitable donation that exceeds this can be carried over to future years.

Medical deductions must exceed 7.5% of AGI.

Casualty losses must exceed 10% of AGI + $100 for personal losses or 2% of AGI for business losses.

Meals are limited to 50% of amount spent for entertainment expenses.

Itemized deductions can also be limited if your income exceeds certain levels. Most taxpayers don't need to worry about that but if you're in to 6-figure territory you need to be aware.

Phone, fax & internet are only deductible to the extent that they are business expenses. If they're employee business expenses there's a 2% AGI limitation. If they're direct business expenses (Schedule C) there's no limit.

Would it be better to get a job as a dental hygienist or a dental assistant?

We Answered:

You need to determine the needs for the area you plan on living. In this area there is a significant shortage of hygienist. Hygienist are more autonomous and make more money.
