Question on job search - what to write in the cover letter?

We Answered:

Here an example of my cover letter

Ladies and Gentlemen: (If you have a real name best to use that)

Enclosed is my resume for your review and consideration. I have a strong and diverse background in YOUR SKILL SET based on direct, professional experience and training acquired through a *** year career in the YOUR field. The specifics of my working experience and training are listed on my resume.
Based on my acquired skills and abilities, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you, in person, how my qualifications can contribute to the needs of your business. Perhaps we can discover additional areas of expertise which would further define my potential contributions as an essential member of your working team.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

You name

Enclosure: Resume

Reasons why you want the job do not need to be in the cover letter or even in the resume. The fact that you live close does not even need to come up as they will not care. Maybe bring it up in the inter view but again they will not care.

Rhonda Said:

Best job search strategy for someone graduating from university this April?

We Answered:

Take advantage of the Job Placement office at your university! They'll have postings for all sorts of job that employ recent graduates, and they probably have all sorts of resources for resume writing, interviewing skills, etc. You should be able to retain access to their services for a while after graduation, but be sure to stop in and find out what they have and how they can help you. You paid all that tuition, and you might as well take advantage of the resource while you can.
