Electrician Job Search

anyone out there want to sponsor an irish electrician to emigrate to australia? i?We Answered:
G'day MarkI have another suggestion for you. Sponsorship can be a complex and fairly expensive process for an employer, particularly if it's only a small 2 or 3 man business. Many who may be prepared to employ someone from overseas who has an appropriate work visa, will not be prepared to take the additional step to sponsor them. From your own point of view, if you accept sponsorship, you're virtually stuck with that employer for a couple of years even if you hate working there.
As an electrician, you should be able to get a permanent visa without too much trouble. If you want it very quickly, you should also have little trouble getting State Government sponsorship (every state wants electricians) and your application should then be processed within a few months.
Once you have a permanent visa or are well on the way to one, you will have little trouble finding work before you arrive in Australia. Demand for electricians is already high and actually looks like growing through a combination of our first home buyers grants, our $42 billion stimulus package (heaps of construction in that) which passed the Senate yesterday and the rebuilding that must inevitably follow our recent (and sadly continuing), natural disasters.

job searching journeyman?We Answered:
To become a journeyman electrician you need to complete a 4 year apprenticeship. You can get an apprenticeship with a union or non-union electrical shop. Contact the union, IBEW, or a non-union shop for more information. It can be a bit of work to get in. Electrician is a fairly tightly controlled job. The supply is kept to what the expected demand will be. This helps keep wages up. There are excellent wages and benefits for electricians. Sorry, but being an aviation electrician doesn't help much. They may cut you some slack in the apprenticeship program if you have the records of your training but that's probably all.The two links below should help you learn more about becoming an electrician.

what is a good website for job searching???We Answered:
Indeed.com is a very good place to job search from because they pull in the jobs from all the major web sites (including Monster, CraigsList & CareerBuilder) into one list which you could filter by job type and location.I typed in your criteria and am including the URL to see what is available in your area at Indeed. I am also including some other resources.

Where can I find entry level electrician jobs?We Answered:
If you are union then your union will have openings for you. If you are not then your school should know of job opportunities. If they do not then make up an inexpensive card and pass it out to the guys in the electrical department at home depot. Get to know them and they might send a lot of work your way. Good Luck
