help me find a job please - mechanical engineer? We Answered:
Naukri,Monster,Timesjob are of no good unless you have 5+ yrs experience.HR department in most companies are not very transparent, and they take only relatives and friends.I would suggest you head to Mumbai and start your search there.Lot's of jobs come in local dailies. Also you will find people who share the same interests as yours.Chances for mechanical engineers are less in Kerala & Karnataka.Evelyn Said:
Finding a job in a big city?We Answered:
I think it's hard for everyone to find a job right now... so I don't think it's you. I have read that the average job search takes about 8 months. NYC has a relatively low job market competition (with one job per unemployed person) so keep at it!That being said, you have some good experience still being in school. Highlight your experience, create good cover letters and resumes. Do some searches online to see what is out there and create job alerts so that you get relevant jobs emailed to you every day (which really helps with the motivation).
Hope that helps!

Job On Hold or Just Not the Right Candidate? We Answered:
It's likely that they prepaid the job search sites, and the ad is going to be posted until the term of the contract is up. Don't read too much into that. They could be putting the job 'on hold' because they are re-examining the position/responsibilities based on information they gathered from the the interviews they have already held. It could be that, like many companies, they are saving money by keeping open positions unfilled for a period of time. It could mean that one of the people involved in the decision making process has gone on vacation or is out on sick leave. It could mean that another position has opened up in the company and they need to fill that one first, and are sidelining this one until they fill that one. There are way too many possible explanations to consider every single possibility. You're just going to have to be satisfied with what they told you, keep your fingers crossed and your spirits up, and keep applying for other positions until you get the call or another job.
