Jennifer Said:

I would like to become a holiday rep. Any websites that anybody knows of that are free to search for jobs?

We Answered:

Holiday rep jobs are a rip off in themselves, so having a rip off site offering seems fitting.

Remember that being a holiday rep is hard work, difficult conditions to work in as a foreign language and no or not much Support from your employer, and long hours for little pay.
At 18 you are too young to carry that responsibility, even when you could legally get that job.

But if you are sure you want to do it, contact holiday companies that employ reps direct.
Do not use an agency that wants money from you. All reputable companies pay the cost to find workers.
Send them an e-mail to ask how to apply if you do not get any reactions on a letter with CV and return address as well as e-mail address.
If you are in a bit of a hurry, you could also phone. Most companies hire and train their summer staff before summer, but if someone fails they will need to replace, and might hire someone during the season.

Adam Said:

What do you think of job search websites that are NOT free?

We Answered:

Unless you are hiring a "head hunter" to find you a job there should not be a fee. You will get some pamphlet in the mail with totally bogus information on how to obtain a job with the Post Office or any other government job, etc. for which you are paying dearly.

They make their money by charging you a fee for some obsolete service or to get a CD in the mail with some pep talk that is supposed to be the secret to getting a new job.

If you find job offers under the heading "Job Aids" then it is not a real job offer but just the usual scam.

Job search. Tips, websites free recruiters online or offices. Read more...?

Careerbuilder and Monster are ok but a LOT of spam going on. I have had great success with Indeed.com which filters out most of the junk. Also hotjobs is decent.. you can "hide" posts from companies you don't want to see (i.e. Work from home and make $40 billion!). I don't know where you live but in my area there is a job site for the region. If you go to regionalhelpwanted.com you should be able to see if your area has anything posted. They're starting to get spammy too though. Good luck! Also check Craigslist but be careful - a lot of scams too.
