The educational flip flopping is going to hurt you. What in the world would possess an automotive engineer to take a masters in hospitality?

Hotel job searches...?

We Answered:

From past (job searching) experience; most hotel chains do have paper-form applications. The longest hotel (paper-form) application I've filled out was 3 pages long; asking simple questions. Those are the applications you can apply for hourly positions. If you wanted a professional position like in managment; you would apply online.

Go to the hotel you would like to apply at. Go to the Front Desk and ask to speak to a manager. When you speak to the manager responding to your concern; ask him/her if they are hiring. They'll probably give you an application; even if they are only "accepting job applications."

When I was job searching; I applied for alot of hotel jobs. The Quality Inn that I applied to work for; called me in for an interview. Then I applied for a Front Dest Employee position at a Ramada Inn. The Ramada Inn called me for an interview about 3 weeks after I handed-in the application. I was still job searching; and they interviewed me. Ironically I wasn't lucky enough to get either job.

Quality Inn and Ramada Inn treats job applicants alot better the Starbucks and the supermarkets.

Make sure you have at minimum of one reference. Hotel managers don't like to interview job applicants without references. I found that out easily. Be clean, well-dressed, and be easy-going.

Goodluck.

Got a housekeeping job at a hotel, any tips?

We Answered:

If you made it through the Army, I think you'll do just fine. Each hotel is going to have their certain way of doings things, of which I am sure they will train you in.
