Job searching in Arizona City AZ?We Answered:
Have you tried monster.com, careerbuilder and craigslist? I just looked on monster around zip code 85231 and there appears to be a number of jobs that are 20-25 miles one way.Leonard Said:
Is there any other well-known job search engines, besides careerbuilder.com, monster.com, & jobing.com?We Answered:
The additional information is helpful, and I've modified my answer to your other question to reflect the location of Arizona.These 3 Websites are the best sources of jobs:
* Craigslist - http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/az
In 2006, Craigslist was the site mentioned most often as the Website people used to successfully find a job. Twice as often as Monster, HotJobs, and CareerBuilder combined!
Craigslist is a giant online classified ads site, organized into hundreds of small sites by location. The link above is to the home page for the entire state of Arizona - pick your city form the 5 listed to see jobs from employers in that area. They have both jobs and "gigs" (which are short term jobs). You can browse through what's available or do a search.
Since Craigslist is free for employers to post in all but 7 of their 400 sites, you'll find junk postings, so be careful. But, I interviewed people who've found work at Verizon as well as at small and mid-sized companies through Craigslist.
For help using Craigslist, see this guide to using Craigslist to find a job - http://www.job-hunt.org/onlinejobsearchg…
* Indeed - http://www.indeed.com
Indeed is true "job search engine." It's a "job aggregator" which collects jobs off big job sites (like Monster, HotJobs, Dice, CareerBuilder, etc. but NOT Craigslist) as well as many other smaller sites and even employer Websites. So, it's a great place to do one search that covers more Websites and employers than you would think of yourself.
I just did a quick search on Indeed for "accountant" and it returned 95,247 results. A search on "accounting" returned 404,099 results! Add Arizona to the search criteria, and the numbers drop to 1,846 for accountant and 8,520 for accounting. Add a city and/or a different job title, and the numbers should drop a bit more, but it's still a great starting point for your job search.
* Job-Hunt.org - http://www.job-hunt.org/jobs/arizona.sht…
With over 8,700 links to employers and career resources, organized by state or specialty, Job-Hunt will help you identify possible employers and also job search networking and local support groups to help you with your networking.
For Arizona, Job-Hunt links to over 100 local resources and employers:
- - local job search support groups
- - local job sites and online classifieds
- - state and local governments
- - colleges and universities
- - public school districts
- - banks and financial companies
- - internet and technology companies
- - medical, biotech, and pharma companies
- - many other Arizona employers
Customize your resume and cover letter to each opportunity - highlight experience and education you have that fits their requirements. After you apply for a job on a job site, follow up. Call or stop by to see if they have any questions about you, and what the next steps in the process are. Be politely, relentlessly persistent.
Networking, BTW, is THE answer given most often the last 10 years when I've asked people how they got a job. The answer more than 90% of the time: a friend of an existing employee is hired.
Good luck with your job search!
Heidi Said:
What is the job name for the guys at customs in arizona?We Answered:
Tomorrow, sadly, is the 7th anniversary of the creation of Customs & Border Protection, an agency of the Dept. of Homeland Security. Seven years ago today, Customs existed. Seven years ago today, the Immigration & Naturalization Service existed.Seven years ago tomorrow they were decommissioned and CBP began.
If you want to work at the border, go to usajobs.gov and look under DHS and CBP.
