laid off- reasonable search for new job?We Answered:
I don't have experience with Connecticut but it sounds similar to Wisconsin. Applying online counts. For many jobs, that's the only way companies will accept applications. I didn't print out my resume and cover letter for each place I applied but I did keep them in a file on the computer. I keyed the application date into the file name so it was easy to find if I needed it. Would you apply for a job 75 miles away? If you don't apply, you can't get offered the job and have to turn it down. Job postings tell you where the job is located. My favorite job website is indeed.com - it pulls from a variety of job websites - such as monster, careerbuilder, local newspapers, and I'm not sure what else. You can key in search words and your city or zip code along with how far outside the area you want to search - such as 10 miles or 25 miles.
Try to use the buzz words from their job posting in your resume and cover letter. So much of it is done by computer now, the more matches you have the higher your resume rises in their listing.
Good luck.
