Texans - What's it like living around the Dallas, TX area?

We Answered:

Like you we've lived in different areas of the country from Oklahoma, to Chicago to Vermont and we've been in the Dallas area for several years and love it here.

It's easy to make friends here. There's a lot of transplanted Texans and they welcome new comers.

Sports are big in Texas. Dallas has pro baseball, football, basketball and hockey. Also horse racing and NASCAR. There's several lakes in the area for boating, skiing, fishing, swimming and camping. Lots of great golf courses. You'll find several good museums. Clubs and restaurants galore. More shopping malls per capita than any place in the country. Several venues for concerts.

The northern suburbs of Plano, Frisco, Allen & McKinney are very nice. They have lovely new homes, apartments, shopping, restaurants, good schools (if you have a family). They all have good roads making them convenient to other areas of the Metroplex. Of those, only Plano has public transportation so a car is a necessity in the Metropex. The cost of living - especially for housing - is low here.

Come on down and give us a try.

Is there an employment agency (besides a temp) that will do everything to help find you a job?

We Answered:

There are placement agencies that place people for a fee; sometimes the employer pays the fee, sometimes you would be expected and it is not cheap and it is usually for more for mid-level to executive level positions - if you have under 5 years with an exceptional track record in your field of expertise, they are not likely going to be able to find anything for you.

Ladies, Help! Nail Salon for Acrylic Nails??? Dallas TX?

We Answered:

I like "Nail Star" - they have two locations: one in Addison and one in Plano.

Also, what are the names of the places you've already been to?

does anybody know where i (15yrs) can get a part time job around here in dallas, tx?

We Answered:

If you have a local Tom Thumb, they usually hire people to collect the carts at age 14+. It's not a super great job, but it's definitely an alternative to baby sitting. Most places you'll need to be at least 16 or 18 to work at!
