Moving people across country at the company expense is a rare event today, unless you are at a VP or higher level. Some industries do more frequently, such as IT.

You or her could move there and take up temporary residence and use a PO box for replies. Also get a local phone number on a cell. Better yet, if you know someone there, ask if you could use their address and phone number as a contact point. If they agree, they have to let you know of any coorespondence you get and phone messages if you leave their number as if it's yours. But be prepared to fly out immediately for any opportunities!

The distance scares companies. I have had many recruiters look at my resume and see my skills and contact me immediately. When I bring up the fact of living 10 states away, they always say "Oh, we thought you were local!" READ MY RESUME AS MY ADDRESS IS ON IT!!!

To search for recruiters, search on the job boards in the town you want and you may find a local one.

Some legitimate telecommuting and freelance opportunities include customer service, virtual assistant, tutor, telemarketer, sales, transcription, translation, blogging, online guide, writer, editor, consultant, concierge, nursing, mystery shopping, tech support, marketing, and online juror.

Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research. Check resources such as www.bbb.org for potential scams.

Try officeteam.com aka Robert Half International. They are in the city and suburbs. Find an office near you and go in person with your resume you might be able for speak with a recruiter immediatly and set up testing.
