You actually need to have a work permit to come and look for a job in SA. If you are classified as SA's "scarce skill" that is. There is a list of technical qualifications that enable you to come without a job offer and search for a job.

If you come to visit, it will help you know the country and maybe see where you would like to stay, etc. But coming to work, you have to leave India or wherever you are with a work permit.

I'm from South Africa, and i'll tell you it's very hard to get here. Maybe even harder than the US. But it's not impossible. You have to apply to a company and they will bring you over on a work permit. Then, if you're here for between 3 and 5 years, you can apply for permanent stay.
You'll love SA. Most beautiful country in the world. Sunny and warm all the time. Funniest and friendliest ppl ever. And the mixture of nature, wildlife and modernisation is amazing. Especially Cape Town -- you'll love it. Check out South Africa on Wikipedia and google.
