Job Search Texas

Diane Said:

JOB SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!...........?

We Answered:

Most part time employers do not really post on job websites. Your best bet is to hit the streets where you live and speak with businesses to see if they are hiring. You should also speak with friends who are employed to see if their place of business is hiring. Many kids find jobs by word of mouth. Another thing to do is to check your local newspaper (print or online) and check their classifieds. You could also speak with your guidance counselors because sometimes employers will contact schools to try to find help. If local stores are not hiring, go in business for yourself. You can babysit, house watch, house clean, dog sit/walk or do lawn work. Just be careful and make sure that you are not working for a psycho. You can check your state's Megan's law website to make sure you are not working for someone creepy. I teach high school and I had a student who started his own lawn care business and 6 years later it is doing rather well.

Shawn Said:

Can I write off my moving expenses, job search, and now that I have a job, milage on my taxes?

We Answered:

Moving expenses can be deducted as an adjustment on the front of 1040.

Job hunting expenses can be deducted if you itemize and if you are looking for a job in the same field you worked in before (no deduction for first job.)

Commuting expenses are never deductable. Only expenses incurred while at work or going from one job-site to another job-site.

What is the best city in Texas to live in without a car, need public transportation?

We Answered:

I'd look at Austin. Because of the number of students there, there are plenty of apartments at reasonable rate and they have a fairly decent metropolitan bus system.

I am searching for a job in texas as a photographer? How do I search for that?

We Answered:

Visit professional studios with your portfolio. Even if they don't have an opening, they may be able to redirect you to someone/somewhere that does.
