Job search tips? I'm not looking for anything in particular so I'm thinking Monster type services are out.We Answered:
Right now you need to focus on exactly what type of job you're looking for so that you can tailor your resume (that you used for another job) for this new job. A Social Service resume's job goal won't work for the IRS. And add the new, completed courses if they add to your knowledge and experience. Use action words in you resume to show that you actually work: for example, I designed, completed, organized, etc. Also, what works well is to show how you get along with other people--loners don't fit in. Look into how you can punch up your resume and interviewing skills.Knowledge is power, so you need to go to http://www.jobs.irs.gov/home.html to find out if you have what it takes to be an IRS man! Good luck!!

Tips for keeping a job search as a secret?We Answered:
1) Do not let anyone know at your current job of your job search, who knows word could get around, even if a co-worker you trust;2) When posting your resume on sites like monster.com, careerbuilder etc. make sure to not name your current company experience by name. Your current employer has a copy of resume in your personnel file and what if they are surfing those sites for resumes?;
3) Still concentrate and do a good job in your current position. If you start slacking off, and they look at your attendance, which shows that you haven't been in much, may raise questions of where you really are when you say you are sick or are on vacation.

Job search tips for recent engineering graduate?We Answered:
My fiance is the director of the career services department at a university and does a lot of research on getting graduates jobs. She told me that only about 25% of available jobs are posted on the internet job search sites. They are not a really good option for getting a job.I was in a similar situation as you when I graduated with a CE degree; however, I did have internships. The best way, IMO, to get job interviews is through networking. I don't know if there are any computer engineering societies in your area, but if there are you should start attending those functions and introducing yourself to people. My last semester in school I participated in a student design competition that culminated at a national engineering symposium. By being at that symposium and talking to a ton of different people I landed 5 interviews and eventually 5 job offers (all in different part of the country). IMO networking with professionals in your chosen field is, hands down, the best way to go. You could also go to as many of the companies in your area as you can, who hire comp engineers, and drop off resumes.
The most important thing is be persistant, don't give up, and get your resume to as many employers as possible...if you throw enough sh!* at the wall some of it is going to stick.
Good Luck!
