Tim Said:

If I live in the state of Virginia, can I claim my girlfriend as a dependant?

We Answered:

The key is "I think there are anti-cohabitation laws in VA." This is something you definitely need to find out about. Based on the information you provided and assuming no one else can claim your girlfriend as a dependent, it does look like you can claim her as long as your living arrangement does not violate local law.

If you are unable to claim her, there is no benefit to her filing a return with no income.

Any job opportunities for business majors in Virginia?

We Answered:

Since you are looking for a federal job, try this site, http://www.whatsnewrightnow.com/govjobs - just select Virginia and see if the results match what you want. Good luck with the job searching. Dave

Victoria Said:

Interested in associate's degree in human resource management from Virginia College. Any suggestions?

We Answered:

Most employers looking for a human resources officer generally require at least a bachelor's degree in the field. However, the associate's degree is definitely a start.

That being said, it looks like Virginia College is not regionally accredited. It's website says it is "Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools," which is NOT a regional accreditation agency. Regional accreditation is CRUCIAL in the USA in order to have your degree universally recognized. Therefore, as a career/technical school, the curriculum will help you. The degree itself, though, is not going to be accepted by all employers.

Are there any legal issues involved in searching for a new job while employed?

We Answered:

The only thing that comes to mind in a situation like this is
if you have a "non-competitive" agreement with your current employer and are looking into going to work for a business that is IN competition with them !! Otherwise, you are free to search however you feel !!

However, there are a multitude OF employers, if aware that your intentions ARE to leave --- will find any number of ways to rid themselves of you -- like double double quick !!!!

i need help finding a 411 or call center job that is not telemarketing, in Northern Virginia?

We Answered:

I to have been trying to find a 411 call center job around my area here in Central Florida but have had no luck. I use to work at one that was 10 mins down the road from where I live, at the time it was Sprint now known as Century Link. I just called to see if I could get my job back there but they have closed down and so has the other one in Rocky Mountain,NC. There are still some 411 call center jobs in the U.S. but they are very hard to find. The internet doesn't seem to help me much either when trying to find this type of job. All I know to tell you is to keep searching everywhere you can to try and find one or maybe contact your local workforce center, they can sometimes help find the type of job you're looking for.
