Job Seek Australia

Arthur Said:

can a filipino citizen apply for a job online in australia at seek.com.au? if yes is that an agency?

We Answered:

Seek is a popular website used by Australians to find jobs. They are mainly a big job advertisement webpage. They are fairly reliable.

You can apply but as a Filipino you can't guarantee that you will be given a job or your application as there will be many others applying for the same job. You need to be in Australia and with an work permit to work in Australia. It is doubtful that an employer would give you a work permit or sponsor you to work in Australia as well.

How can I find pearling jobs in Western Australia,I have been thru job website such a seek,career1...?

We Answered:

Your best bet would be to contact any one of the employment service companies in Broome. Paspaley is has a large presence in the city and hires a lot of young people to work shifts on the pearling boats. The shifts are something like 3 weeks on and 2 days off for a certain period of months, but the pay is good. The work that I have seen on my visit included jobs like shell cleaning, hauling, line work, etc.

They may have more permanent jobs as well. They have a lot of different operations that do not involve direct work with the shell.

Christy Said:

It is possible to visit Australia, and seeking for a job their?

We Answered:

Tourist visas are intended for the use of genuine tourists who wish to visit Australia for a holiday, sightseeing, social or recreational reasons, to visit relatives, friends or for other short-term non-work purposes and that MUST be the primary reason for your visit. It's legal to spend a bit of time exploring employment opportunities or attending an interview or two, but that's all and therefore your intentions fall well outside the scope of a tourist visa.

In any case, finding a job almost certainly won't do you any good at all. The only work visa that would allow you to stay on in Australia or that would be granted in under 3 years if you leave and apply offshore, is a subclass 457 temporary employer sponsored visa and it has strict eligibility requirements.

You are only eligible for a 457 or any kind of work visa if you have qualifications and experience in an occupation on our Skilled Occupations List (SOL) and you must also have documented English skills at at least Competent level i.e. you must have an IELTS score of at least 6 in each of the 4 test components. For a 457, you must of course also find an employer who is eligible and willing to go to the considerable trouble and expense of sponsoring you - a job offer alone won't get you a visa.
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-w… 457 visa information - follow every link so you are aware of what is involved for both you and the employer.
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121… The current SOL which will be replaced by a new, much shorter version from 1 July.

You mention that you have a family and a 457 is not a very good visa for a person with a family. If you are eligible for a 457 and manage to get one, you can bring your family with you but you must pay school fees for your children in some states ($4500 per child in New South Wales) and will get no childcare or any other benefits from our government. Apart from the benefits aspect, if you leave or lose your job, you have only 28 days to find another sponsor or you must all leave the country.

You can get a paper round sort of job from age 10 in WA. You will need to have a parent sign a form agreeing to this though. Once you hit 14 you can start working in places like shops.

Wade Said:

I have 8+ yrs of exp in call center industry in India. I'm seeking a job in Australia.?

We Answered:

There is no way you will get a work visa for Australia as a call centre operator. Your stated job isn't on the Skilled Occupations List and so I'm afraid that you're out of luck as that is a prerequisite for a work visa. Here is the list:
http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1121…

IELTS is mandatory for all applicants from non English speaking countries - only citizens of the UK, Canada, New Zealand, the USA and Ireland are exempt.

If an applicant's occupation is one in high demand, many are able to find work and even a sponsoring employer before they come here, but again, your occupation must be listed.
