Louisiana Job Search

Nathaniel Said:

i am confused about this form i have to fill out from the state of louisiana department of revenue...?

We Answered:

In Block A and B, you'd put 0. This means your parents are going to claim you on their tax return, so when you file your tax return in 2007 (for the money you made in 2006) you will not be receiving your personal deduction. This form tells your employer how much money to withhold for state income taxes.

Congrats on getting a job, it's good to see.

Job without interview?

We Answered:

Go to the ACS (Army Community Service) or its equivalent in your base. Tell them your situation and have them give you the names of contractors through whom the military hires. Then, have her go to their website and contact them, faxing her resume and writing in addition a cover letter/ letter of interest. In addition, have her get in touch with the POCs for those contractors (Serco, aXseum, etc. there are tons through which the military hires civilians). I'm a military spouse and I've been interviewed over the phone for positions, as these companies understand the limitations and demands on military families.
Thanks for serving!

Where can a 16 year old, turning 17 (July 9) in Monroe, Louisiana?

We Answered:

You tried any of your neighbors to see if they need any chores you can do ,like cutting grass, trimming hedges, any weeding or cleaning up around their place? Baby sitting, painting, window washing? You might be surprised? Figure your labor at $20 an hr on cuting and trimming using their equipment and if you have any mowers or shears and you use yours then it's $25 hr.Charge by the window when cleaning those. Remember to be kind to the old folks as their income is limited and sometimes by cutting them a little slack on cost will make you feel better as a person. Good Luck and may GOD Bless

Does anyone know where I can apply for a Plant/oilfield job at? Ive been searching but havent been successful.?

We Answered:

What's your education, experience, expertise as far as oilfield related employment? Are you a geologist, instrumentation engineer, or roustabout, or...? There are plenty of experienced oilfield hands looking for work as more fields close, play out, are shut down for one reason or another. Most refineries are laying off, or at least not hiring.

Furthermore, in today's economy, no one can afford to restrict their job search geographically. If you have expertise for oilfield, plant, refinery jobs, you have to look worldwide for job openings.

Heidi Said:

Will I be able to draw unemployment if I move from one state to another?

We Answered:

The US government created a plan called the Interstate Benefit Paymetn Plan. All states are a member of this plan.

In summary, the purpose of the plan is to protect workers who have accumulated unemployment benefit credits in one state but no longer reside in that state.

I am not an expert in Unemployment law, but from my understanding, the unemployed person is supposed to file their unemployment claim with the state they have accumulated the credits in (in your case, LA). Once you move, the state of LA has the duty to assist you from there. They are supposed to provide you with the proper doucments and work with the agency in the state you are moving to (WV).

If you are bored and need sleep, here is the documentation:

http://workforcesecurity.doleta.gov/unem…

So in short, you will probably still get benefits if you are eligible. I am not sure who will pay them after you move (LA or WV). Start by filing a claim with the LA Workforce Commission and go from there.
