new resident search a job in silver spring md city place mall half time never work before?

We Answered:

Just go to the mall and fill out applications for part-time work. Maybe you can work in the back of the stores so you don't have to deal with customers.

Jeff Said:

Where can I afford to live near Bethesda, MD?

We Answered:

$35,000 is very hard to survive on anywhere in DC metropolitan area. You'll have to go way out in the country or to a real bad area to find housing you can afford. Remember, cost of living is very high in this area so food, clothes, and other necessities will a whole lot. I'm sure there are people in this area that survive on 35K, but it seems almost impossible to me.

Brittany Said:

I lost my job, which bills are essential to pay first until I get another job?

We Answered:

Well, here is my suggestion:
Rent and utilities, but cut out non-essential, like Premium channels on cable, drop your vonage or cell phone and only keep one (you don't need two phones right?)
Contact your Student Loan companies and see about a differance, call your car insurance and raise the deductible to lower the payment. Pay minimums on credit cards to stay current, and contact medical places and make payment arrangements.
Cut out all non-essential things like eating out, road trips to visit relatives (have them come to you) to save gas.
Hope that helps

Debra Said:

I moved to MD about a year ago and worked 2 jobs, and taking summer off, pls. help with my resume!?

We Answered:

Hi,

First of all you have to write a positive CV. What kind of work were those jobs that you did after you came to MD? Are they the same work as the on you did in Florida? If they are it is good that you can write that you already 8years of experience but if it was different you have it little more difficult.

What was the reason for you having two jobs? Was the reason that you had a fixed term contract, were you fired or did you quit?

If you quit your self you have to say that you just had gotten back to MD and took the first job you could, because you wanted to work. And after you got settled back you started to look for more challenging job/more responsibility/better salary etc. What ever was the reason? You can say the reason. You do not never lie. But you have to make the reason sound as logical and acceptable as possible.

How long were the two jobs? Was one of them 10 months and other 2 moths or how was it? if the other employment was very short you could leave it out of your resume all together.

Example:

Florida 1999-2007
MD job A 2007-2007
MD Job B 2007-2008

you write:
Florida 1999-2007
MD job B 2007-2008

If asked you can always say that you were also for a while in Job A.

So it all depends so much on the dates, the job you did and type of work you did.

But no matter what you write on resume/CV you always have to have a reason for leaving the previous work. And if you say that you just got tired. It is never good. Same goes for taking the summer of. Always have a reason for any career moves that you make. Did you attend to your family, did you take summer classes or anything that you can say that you did during your vacation? How did you leave your last employer? Can you use him as a reference? This would be great if possible. This way your new employer could always check the fact of your job.

If you could give more details and information on the types of employment and the duration of employment I could assist you more. There might be more questions than answers here but hope this get you started.

Regards,
Mr Rendic

would it be a good idea to purchase a mobile home in Saint Mary's County, MD? Could I get a job? I just want a

We Answered:

You can only purchase this with cash. You would not be able to get a mortgage on a trailer that old with a legitimate company. Maybe a loan shark, but you are talking about paying at least 30k in that case.

Another thing to consider is that the mobile home park may not approve you to rent a space there since neither of you have jobs.

Also you need to know that anything promoted as a "handyman special" means it is in very bad shape and may not be livable.

DO I think it is worth it? No, I think it is a waste of money. However, you are two unemployed adults, one of which does not even drive. THis may be the best you can do under the conditions you have put yourselves.

Alberto Said:

Can someone help me get a job?

We Answered:

From your description, you must live in DC suburbs. If you would be interested in the credit industry. I will give you a job site. I retired from there & they are great to work for, good pay, great benefits. Go to navyfederal.org & click careers. They are the world's largest credit union and are headquartered in Vienna, VA. They have openings all around DC area. Recommend you apply for member service representative or mortgage collections. If you need any help e mail me, I retired from there two years ago.
