How to find a home based medical transcription job?We Answered:
It is highly unlikely that you will find a home based transcription position with no experience. Most people start out in a hospital or physicians office and after you gain more knowledge and experience, you will be better equipped to work independently.Tonya Said:

wish to take penn foster medical transcription online course. how was job search? opportunities available? ennWe Answered:
Penn Foster's Medical Transcription course is pretty inadequate. Many employers will not hire graduates of their MT course. When I was researching Medical Transcription schools, I called several employers and asked them how to get started in the field. I was told to attend a school approved by the AHDI - Association of Healthcare Documentation Integrity. After a lot of research and further discussions with employers, I chose to attend Career Step. The course is self-paced, more affordable than the other AHDI approved programs, and partnered with several employers. I had a job offer less than a week after graduating and have been working ever since.
The US Department of Labor estimates that job opportunities for Medical Transcriptionists will be good: "Employment of medical transcriptionists is projected to grow 14 percent from 2006 to 2016, faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for medical transcription services will be spurred by a growing and aging population. Older age groups receive proportionately greater numbers of medical tests, treatments, and procedures that require documentation. A high level of demand for transcription services also will be sustained by the continued need for electronic documentation that can be shared easily among providers, third-party payers, regulators, consumers, and health information systems. Growing numbers of medical transcriptionists will be needed to amend patients’ records, edit documents from speech recognition systems, and identify discrepancies in medical reports."
Best of luck!

Getting Better Results From Job Search Web Sites? We Answered:
You need to narrow your search fields. Both Monster and CareerBuilder have an 'advanced search' tab - but I think CareerBuilder's is easier to use bcz all the results show up - Monster has you select criteria individually, search, then click again which takes more time and can be clunky when you are waiting for the screens to change..So, try this on CareerBuilder:
On the main page, enter in your zip code and hit search. When the results appear, go to advanced search and select all options that are relevant to you - stuff like: Search for how many days past you want to view (24 hours to 30 days, I think), mile radius from zip code entered, education level, regional jobs, etc. It's really pretty thorough. It will also let you declare which jobs you do not want to appear, so if you are in no way interested in anything related to restaurants, you can enter that in the designated field and they will be filtered out. Be mindful not to put too many title restrictions on your search for you will eliminate a lot of options that may be of interest to you. After you enter all of this in, hit search and you will see that your search will be narrowed down considerably.
Give it a go and good luck.
