Hilda Said:

Does anyone know which neighborhoods in Melbourne, FL are good areas and which ones should be avoided?

We Answered:

Hello.
Ive lived near there most of my life, the other part Orlando. I think Melbourne is pretty nice. The economy isn't great, but if you already have jobs, then you will probably like it. I don't know if you are from the Orlando area, but if so the traffic is not near as bad, anywhere. And people, in my opinion are friendlier as well.
Stay away from anything near University Blvd. Living right off US-1 can be a gamble. That is where the prostitutes walk down, even in the areas not in the "bad side of town".
If you have kids, here is a website of the school area districts
http://www.brevard.k12.fl.us/Schools/
If you are going to live off of Wickham, the better areas are Lake Washington rd or north of it. South Wickham can get a little harry. But if you don't have kids, maybe you can find cheaper rent? You would be able to walk to lots of stores. Anything around Viera is nice, but pricey.
Living off John Rhodes is nice, but the road is one way each way, so sometimes it gets backed up. Also, check out West Melbourne, the homes might be less there, and it is right next door to Melbourne. Also, living off Emerson is nice too, but that's technically in "Palm Bay".
Hope this helps!
