Melvin Said:

Where are good/ safe areas to rent around Mt Mary College in Milwaukee?

We Answered:

To be honest, just about anywhere in Wauwatosa is good. I've lived in several different areas of Milwaukee, and I like wauwatosa the best.
There's low crime rates, plenty of parks, and has it's own little downtown village area that's really nice. Everything you need is always close by too. It's probably the most "laid back" part of milwaukee.

If you want to live in the nicest areas of tosa, the west end of tosa is the best, but all of tosa is pretty nice and safe. There's only 1 or 2 little areas on the east end that you could say are questionable, but even those areas aren't bad if you're used to living in the city.

Take a look at places around the North Ave. area. It's close to everything, you can find decent rent rates, and plenty of apartments and houses to rent. It's also pretty close to Burleigh St. which is where I believe Mt. Mary is if I'm not mistaken.

Tom Said:

I think someone might be using my social security number, what do I do?

We Answered:

It's possible their records got mixed up. Maybe his SSN is one digit off from yours and somebody made a typo at some point in time.

I'd keep monitoring your credit (and the annual earning statement you get from Social Security )but probably not worry about it further unless you see some evidence that something is fishy.

Are companies tightly socially networked together in larger cities? ?

We Answered:

Businessmen are pretty networked, especially in not-huge cities like Milwakee. But generally, one company will not "hand over" a worker to the other like you describe. If first company liked you, they'd given you a raise. If they hated you, they would've made it hard for you to find a new job.

It looks like they genuinely want you back; ask the person who called you if could possibly avoid working with the person who bothers you.

Moving to another city w/o a valid reason (e.g. family circumstances) is an even worse signal than 4 months w/o a job.

Jamie Said:

what should i do if i fail 3 out of 4 classes first semester at uw milwaukee?

We Answered:

You stated that you went from full-time to part-time... did you drop classes? If you did drop to part-time status, then you will lose some of the aid you received this semester because it was based on full-time status. However, if you completed all 4 of your classes (even if some were with "F's", then your aid from this semester shouldn't have been affected). You need to know whether you are going to be placed on academic probation, or on financial aid suspension. Most schools will first place you on academic probation. Then, if you do not make satisfactory academic progress the next semester, you will be placed on financial aid suspension. In this instance, you will no longer be eligible for financial aid, which includes grants and loans. You will have to pay out of pocket for a semester or two to bring yourself back into good standing.

Another concern with this semester is that financial aid requirest that you pass a minimum of 67% of the classes that you register for, you obviously didn't meet this requirement. You need to speak with a financial aid adviser at your college to see where you stand. Call and set up an appointment to meet with someone. I would also recommend that you meet with one of the school counselors. He/she should be able to point you in the direction of assistance (if needed) for safe-housing, tutoring, and other resources. Since you mentioned that you may be scared to "make the jump" by moving out (which is understandable), a counselor may be able to help you make a short-term life plan, and/or help you with budgeting. Good luck to you.
