Minneapolis is a WONDERFUL place to live! I lived in NYC for 8 years, and I'm so happy to be HERE now! I moved here in 1999. You can do what I did. I moved here, started temping and got hired. Easy peezy, lemon squeezy.

LA is a very large city with a lot of diversity. I don't really know about that ''Neighborhood'' Atmosphere, but like obviousman said, everybody does their own thing. Although i can recommend you safe areas in LA, if that is necessary for you.

Some safe Areas : Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, Westwood, Marina Del Rey, Century City, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Burbank, Glendale, Altadena, South Pasadena, La Brea area, Woodland Hills, Arcadia, Toluca Lake, Pacific Palisades, San Dimas, Palos Verdes, Glendora, Van Nuys, Calabasas( a bit further away though) Thousand Oaks etc.
