Non Profit Job Search

Edgar Said:

How do I find a job in non-profit healthcare for a RECENT graduate?

We Answered:

If the local hospitals and nursing homes don't have positions, perhaps volunteer work can provide some valuable experience: http://www.volunteermatch.org

Ramon Said:

Non-profit job search engine?

We Answered:

Since you don't mention your country, I will have to guess:

In Canada, Charity Village, www.charityvillage.com

In the U.S., www.nonProfit-jobs.org, www.charityjobsearch.org or www.nonprofitjobscoop.org

In the UK, www.charityjob.co.uk

In Australia, mycareer.com.au/jobs/-/community/non-pro…

Good luck

Non profit or for profit daycare center when doing a job search?

We Answered:

I haven't worked in daycare before, so I am unable to provide you with an answer on who pays more, but I do have a job search suggestion.

I would do a search on a job search website with the phrase daycare, child care, and so forth. This should pull up job listings for both non-profit centers and profit centers. It will only take a few minutes to email or upload your resume to the job listing. Therefore, it wouldn't really hurt you to focus on both.

You might also want to use your phone book or the internet to get the names, phone numbers, or addresses of local daycare centers (both profit and non). Call to ask about applying for a job, but have a resume ready if they want you to bring it in.

Victoria Said:

How do I begin working with the philanthropy program of a corporation?

We Answered:

If there were any jobs available, they would be listed on the corporations careers page, but remember that in comparision to the size of the corporation, the philanthropic division will be very small, such postions may not be available very often, so you may have to check back frequently. If you would rather not wait, you can contact the corporations and ask to speak with the philanthropic department - then you can ask if they have any jobs available or find to whom you should forward your resume. However, I think you will find that they are interested in hiring individuals with experience in and with the nonprofit sector, so in the meantime you may want to either volunteer at a local nonprofit, to get some relevant experience on your resume, or consider working for a nonprofit for a year or so, so that you will again have the necessary qualifications.

Freddie Said:

North Carolina Non-Profit (Social Work) Job Search?

We Answered:

You can also look at NASW's website and possibly even the state chapter of NASW in NC. These often have postings you will not find elsewhere. Local schools of social work can also be helpful and have postings. Of course many local papers now have online editions with local job postings.

In the area of youth and HIV/AIDS you may also want to send a resume to local organizations in the area you hope to live. DA
