Part Time Retail Jobs

Andre Said:

When getting a part time retail job, will they run a background check? Work/School history?

We Answered:

It all depends on the company. For every job I've gotten, they have called my references, and they will likely run a criminal background check. If it is a retail job, they probably won't care enough about your school history to request a transcript, although they may confirm any degrees you have received.

I tried everything. but I can't find a part-time job( retail) What am I doing wrong?

We Answered:

Toronto is a big city. Look for merchandisers in clothing to get some consignment on account, for one week and after sale return all merchandise and cash as you go. You would be in business in no time and they will lead you to likely customers.

Retail/ part time jobs required to give days off?

We Answered:

Most retail jobs require you to be very flexible with scheduling. Many companies will have regulations on how many hours a part-timer may work. Check with your HR manager about your hours that you want to work. It is always good to give at least 2 weeks notice if you need a certain day off or if you need to change your work schedule.

When getting a part time retail job, will they run a background check for Work/School history?

We Answered:

Restaurants and small family businesses probably won't but banks will every time. If you only worked for two-three weeks it shouldn't show up on your credit or background check, but unless you are applying for a professional job, they won't ask for a transcript of your school history.

First, Apply to as many places as possible, the more applications you fill out and turn in the better chance you will get a interview.

Second, prepare for the interview. You need to dress the part for the job you want. Be sure to have some nice dress clothes to wear for when a company calls you into an interview. Attitude is important and displaying a positive, confident, attitude will get you a long ways in the working world.

Third, the interview process. If you get a call back for an interview, then be sure to wear those nice dress clothes, be respectful, and appreciative of the opportunity they are giving you. You will have to answer questions like why do you want to work here, what are your strengths, what are are your weaknesses, things like that, be prepared to have a good answer.

Lastly, always thank employers for taking time out to interview you and for their consideration, it will leave a good impression on them

Good Luck, stay confident and positive and I'm sure you will find a good job soon :)
