If I move to NYC will it be easier to find a job?We Answered:
I would recommend getting the job first before making the actual move. Do you have any friends or relatives you can stay with while you job search? Also keep in mind that the cost of living is higher in NYC.Agnes Said:
job search advice:how to increase my chances of getting a job across the country? We Answered:
California to Philadelphia is too far to conduct a real job search. Do you have any friends or relatives with whom you could stay while looking for a job? You really should get close enough that if someone calls you on a Monday and wants to interview you on Wednesday that you could get there.Saying that you are willing to relocate may scare off potential employers who want somebody to start soon.
You should list a local address and phone number on your resume. See if you can use a friend or relative's address. (These days, very few employers will contact you by mail, but you need an address to show them.) You can get a cell phone with a local area code. Probably the easiest way to do this is to get a pre-paid phone. When you set up the service, use a local zip code and you will get a local area code.
If the job search takes a long time, you could consider moving from one friend or family member to another every couple of weeks so you don't wear out your welcome. If you are 100% certain that you want to live in the Philadelphia/NJ area, you could move all of your belongings and store them while you are living with friends or family. that way you don't have to ask for time off just to go back to California just to pack up your clothes, etc.
I hope this helps.

Desperate job search?We Answered:
Instead of hoping to land the plum job you are looking for, you could join a temp agency to get some money in your pocket while you send out your resume. The added bonus is, that your assignments give you the opportunity to see how the particular companies operate and you'll also have an opportunity to make a name for yourself.Think of these assignments as reconnaissance missions where you scout "them" and "they" can scout you.
Wish you the best.

Jobs in Philly or Philadelphia area?We Answered:
http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/This question has been sitting without an answer for a few days now, so even though I can't help with specific companies to recommend, this is as good a place to start as any.
Edit - talk to the counselors at your school also - they may know of some leads.

moving cross country without a job?We Answered:
According to the following the unemployment rate in Philadelphia is 11.9%, not easy to find a job unless you 2 work in a profession that is always in demand. $1,100 is not a lot of money taking into consideration gas, food, utilities etc. Total $2,200 only lasts about 2 months. If you two choose to work for retail, you could be able to find seasonal work for Nov & Dec, but you could lose your job in Jan.BTW usually apartment requires a lease for at least 6 months, usually 12. In case you move out before the lease, you would still be liable to pay for the rest of the lease.
