Has anyone had an Unemployment Job Search Review done before?

We Answered:

A while back, and not in WA., but they asked where I had applied, i.e. company names, position, date of application, and if offered any jobs. So you should have your job application history ready - if you've done your applications online, it should be pretty easy.

I am unemployed and have been looking for a job many different ways, What are some other suggestions?

We Answered:

Usually when I apply to a job and they don't call back. I take it upon my self to make the call in about 2-3 days. I always ask to speak to the hiring manager and I ask her/him if my resume was recieved. Sometimes they want you to come in and apply. Also make sure your resume is hire material, there are a lot of sites you can go on to make sure. I always send a cover letter when I fax my resume. I hope I helped. good luck

What is a good job search tool for teens?

We Answered:

Unless you have a particular skill, Internet-based searches are pretty useless for a young person looking for a first job.

What you have to sell right now is just yourself. You don't have experience or training, but you have enthusiasm and a willingness to work, right? You have to show those things to an employer. And that means there is no real alternative to knocking on doors, asking to see the manager or whatever, and asking for a job. That is doubly true in this economy,

If all you are to the employer is a few sentences in an e-mail or online application, you are no different from 1000 other people who are doing the same thing. But if you show up, looking looking like you could start work right then and there, well, that's different from all those electronic applicants, and you might get an interview. BTW, looking like you could start work means looking like the other people who work at the same place. For many jobs, it means no dirty sneakers, no torn jeans, no t-shirts that have anything offensive to a customer or co-worker. (In most cases, you shouldn't wear shirts with any writing on them at all.)

There are more people looking for work than there are jobs available. So make yourself stand out as a hard worker and a friendly person. Good luck!!
