Rodney Said:

what is barclays bank work experience like?

We Answered:

They'll be very nice to you. All companies are to people doing work experience training. I worked briefly for Barclays a LONG time ago - in the 1980s - and at the time, they seemed a very good employer.

Don't be nervous. I'm sure you'll make mistakes, but don't worry about it. Be honest when you don't know something, or if you feel you've done something wrong. People will be more than happy to help you figure it out. Most people in a company work as a team, and they all just want to get the work done right - so don't be shy about asking for help.

Work Experience in Banking sector in UK, Canada, or in Germany?

We Answered:

I feel United Kingdom is best to get work experience if you get a chance over there as that most mature banking system and is more aligned to International Banking sector then other two.

One more thing if you need job, you need to contact and not others will contact you :)

Investment banking work experience for year 10?

We Answered:

Unless you have family in the business no firm I know could handle the legal liability of employing anyone under the age of majority, (18 in the U.S.), and no permanent securities position until degreed and 21. The rules can almost always be bent so don't give up. I was your age when I decided to become a banker, and I made it. Kudos!

Seth Said:

Where to do work experience (Investment Banking)?

We Answered:

Hi T-u-n-g.

All the major investment banks are in the City of London. It is also called the Square mile.

They do not have any branches in Leeds.

Yes I think that your career choice is fantastic, it is a good job, and pays lots of pennies.

I just answered a similar question as yours about 30 minutes ago, I will copy paste this answer, as it will give you an insight into the world of investment banking.

The question I answered was titled "future finance accounting industry."

Ok here goes, I will come back to you after, and give you more information. By the way you must click on the link I give, then you will understand a lot more about investment banks.

This may come as a bit of surprise, but I would say that working for a major investment bank, is by far the best choice.

My reasons are :-

Your skills are needed to keep investment banks going.

All they do all day is trade, and every trade has to have someone like you checking everything.

Investment banks unlike normal commercial banks, are still making fortunes of money.

The pay is a lot more, and also you get a bonus every year, which is quite substantial.

As they are major employers, there is lots of opportunities for promotion.

How do I know all this, the answer is that my daughter works for a major investment bank in the City.

She is a Vice President.

You can imagine how much money she makes, well at least 6 figures, and then some.

She also works in HR, and people like you are hard to find. Believe it or not, there is a shortage of bean counters. *Smile*.

Check out this website, it gives the top ten investment banks in the UK, and lots of other information.

Ok I am back again *Smile*

BTW I live in Bournemouth, but I was born in Yorkshire.

Ok back to your question.

Yes investment banks do do work experience, as you can see from the above answer, I can email my daughter and ask what age they would do this.

I think it is 16, not 15, and they would also put you into a hotel while you are doing the work experience, but again I will ask my Daughter.

The best way for me to continue, is, I will add my daughters answers to this reply. in about 1 hour from now.

Ok BFN.
