most likely putting products on shelves etc, cleaning, making drinks, checking if customers are ok, meeting any demands manager wants, ermm im not sure what else but u wont be doing anything MAJOR because they dont really trust people on work experience to do the big jobs just the little jobs :)

Either you could call them or pick those you like the look of best and visit them, before you go you should write up a CV or at least a statement of your interests and predicted grades etc along with your contact details. That way if they're too busy to talk to you, you could always ask to leave them a copy for the manager when they have more time.

Do this as soon as possible as I believe the placement needs to be 'vetted' by your school for insurance purposes etc.

I am currently doing my beauty therapy work experience at a top London spa! I'm studying level 2 beauty therapy as well. I have been there a week and am cleaning up, checking stock and putting it away, refilling towels, re-filling lockers with robes and towels, assisting therapists prepare treatment rooms for massages and facials, checking the spa in general as it is a top spa so everything has to be clean and filled up like fruit and bottled water in the treatment rooms. I met mat Damon's mum the other day, she was in for a massage and pedicure and i set the trolley up for the treatment, she seemed very nice. I also serve the clients sorbet after they have had their treatment and wash up. It depends where you are doing your work experience, a salon or spa because the spa I am working in has sauna and steam room etc and so ppl dint always have treatments and doesn't do waxing and manicure which is what I do at my college. It is mainly massage which is what I will be doing in level 3. The spa i chose to work in has a nice atmosphere and the staff members are friendly, sometimes I find beauty therapy girls bitchy so I was shocked lol! It does get a bit repetitive sometimes though as obviously you cant do treatments so it is mainly cleaning, can get a bit repetitive but I am enjoying my time there as it is a beautiful spa and I get free sauna and steam room, lovely!
