Brisbane Work Experience

Jack Said:

Trying to look for work over xmas new years BRISBANE?

We Answered:

Skip looking on Seek!. Seek is for full time positions, not for 2 nights of the year.

I would make a resume & drop them into every night club / pub in your area (or preferred area) and wait until they contact you.

Just state on your cover letter that your willing to work over the christmas/NYE break as an infill for people on leave.
You should get a job in a heart beat!

Brisbane OR Adelaide? Which city could be a better option?

We Answered:

To the people above, JCU does have a campus in Brisbane and it has been there for about 10 years. It is right in the CBD and in an excellent location. (I googled it and the Univerisity of Ballarat has a campus in Adelaide, so our friend does know what he is talking about)

There are loads of call centre jobs in Brisbane both inbound calls centres and more sales/telemarketing jobs, so if you have experience you shouldn't have any problem getting a job.

Rent in Brisbane is probably more than what you would pay in Adelaide, sharing is definately the best option if you are a student. Have a look at the rental section of www.realestate.com.au and check out suburbs like paddington, east brisbane, kelvin grove, red hill, toowoong, indooroopilly, st lucia. These suburbs are all close to the city and have lots of other students and young people living in share house accomodation. For a 3 bedroom house in one of these suburbs expect to pay $400+ per week.

Year 10 work experience? PLEASE HELP.?

We Answered:

The best thing to do is to ask as many places as possible to see if anyone will be kind enough to give you a shot. Of course a lot of people may not be willing to take you on which can be really discouraging. Try looking somewhere that you may not have a originally thought of, for example you have already contacted Dolly, you could try at place that may not be aimed at your demographic they may be interested as to why you are approaching them. The point is, is to keep asking people show your enthusiasm and commitment and someone will give you a chance. Just keep at it =) Good Luck.

Work Experience? Extremely confused?

We Answered:

If your school is crap, then be pro-active! Think of something you might like to do when you're older and try to find somewhere that will help you see what that might be like!

For instance, if you like working with young children, you could think about childcare facilities, or nurseries (I don't know if this is allowed for you?) or if you have lawyers offices nearby you could try there. You mention that you would like to own your own business when you are older - think about people who are running small businesses (small shops etc are ideal!) and try there! The smaller the business, the more likely you are to have contact with the owner - you can ask them how they got there, what did they have to do to build their own business - what skills do you need etc...

I would write a letter, explaining who you are (esp age), what school you go to and what the work experience placement is about. You should tell them a little about yourself - why you would like to work with them (try a bit of flattery here - "I have wanted to be a ____ for a while, but don't know much about the day-to-day running of the job; I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to see how your company(etc) works and to learn as much as I can from you as I believe this would be an invaluable experience to help me on the way to becoming a _____" or something!) and what you feel you would gain from a placement with them. Include the school's contact details (check with the school about this - you don't want to be handing out your home address to just anyone!) and obviously the dates you would have to complete the placement.

Always have a few places in mind as you are of course not necessarily going to get a placement in the first place you ask!

Even if you can't decide on a place or profession that inspires you or is something you have always wanted to do, then really any placement (within reason!) will be a good experience! The idea of work experience is not only to give you a glimpse of a profession that you are interested in, but also to let you see what it's like to work, and to be in a professional environment. You will learn something wherever you go so make the most of it!!

So yeah (I'm very long-winded today - sorry!!) research your own placement, write letters yourself! (If you're unsure, write the letter and ask a friendly teacher or parent to proof-read it just in case!)

Good luck!

Surf tattoo in Brisbane - best place for really good, original artwork?

We Answered:

Hi From my personal experience you'd probably fins most tattooists are capable of doing surf waves but i do recommend Warren Rigby from vision skin tattoo he's over at Strathpine way. I've known him for around15years he's really good at freehand work too he and his workers tattoo alot of international bands when they come over here he's pretty popular and last i heard he was booked out for the next 6 months. Also theres Skin Fx tattoo down surfers paradise, when i was working at dreamworld a few of my mates got theirs done there and they had some really fantastic designs. I got one of my tattoos done at Voodoo tattoo across from the Hyperdome in LOGANHOLME. i'm really happy with them too. Then again if u go into the valley you could see little mick hes still going hard at it and has a good rep.
http://au.geocities.com/eroticartsau/dir… <lists tattoo shops in all states.
You could also maybe have a look yourself at some tattoo mags and it always has the artists name on the pictures find something simmilar to what you want and go from there.
Australian tattoo mag has good write ups on local artists.
Good luck with your tattoo =0)
