They're really basic questions to both understand and then answer.

I suggest you get the Child Care book by Penny Tassoni - available online from amazon, ebay or in stores in WHS and Waterstones.
It'll cost around £20 but will answer all your questions, feed you information and you can reference it properly in your written essays.

You'll find that not very many child care centers teach a Kindergarten class. Most only provide care before/after school along with the other grades.

Are you out of high school? If so, you could volunteer at the local elementary school. Kindergarten teachers LOVE regular volunteers. You will have to have a background check. Go into the school, talk to the secretary and she'll be able to get you in touch with the Kindergarten teacher and I'm sure she'll have the paperwork that you'll need to fill out.

If you are in high school...you may wish to volunteer in the after school programs of a child care center. I would just give them a call or go in person and inquire. Same goes...background check.

Also, I did this my last 2-3 years of high school...I don't know if you high school will allow you to. I went over to the elementary school the last hour or so and worked in the 1st grade class, for credit. It was an awesome experience.

No matter what just do it. work experience is a very important thing to put in your CV and personal statement etc. so even if you hate it, it's only 2 weeks, suck it up and just go through with it.

Don't wear mini shorts unless you want to get fired or want the parents to dislike you. Wear comfortable clothes that aren't too revealing and that you can move around in. Also, wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint/sand/clay on.

I don't know about NSW, but Canberra has got exemptions for experienced workers, see link to news story below; surely NSW would have similar, and centre owners would know?

I do think in the longer term you will need a bit of paper (ridiculous!) but a Cert 3 isn't that much work... probably a few hours a week for 6 months (I wasn't able to find course length in a quick search. Apparently even family daycarers will need it soon! :(
