Graduate programs in clinical psych generally look more at academics than work experience. In fact, most successful applicants to clinical PhD programs have been fresh out of their Bachelor's, or working only one or two years.

That said, they DO look for experience: mainly in psychological research, also in treatment and assessment. You can get this experience while doing your undergrad degree, if you do a thesis-based honours program, co-op program, or work as a research assistant on the side, either part-time or in the summers. Or you can take a job in research after graduating, such as at a hospital, mental health agency, or government department.

Solid undergraduate grades, great GRE scores, having some research publications (at least co-author credits), and sucking up to a potential graduate advisor, will all count much more than work experience for most clinical psych doctorate candidates. For specifics, look up the admissions criteria for any clinical psych PhD program in your area, online.

Are you a clinical psychologist (e.g you are a licensed psychologist with a PhD) or a clinical social worker (e.g. a licensed MSW level social worker) - In England the two professions are as different as they are in the states. For social work you might start with the international federation of social workers.
