College Degree For Work Experience

Darryl Said:

Work Experience Vs. College Degree?

We Answered:

the truth is college degree. Without college degree, how will you get a job based solely on work experience. Work experience only works for low-end jobs. As for internships, it can only guarantee at most times an interview. It is no guarantee of a job prospect.

Irene Said:

Is it a bad idea get your Masters immediately after getting your college degree, without any work experience?

We Answered:

Business and nursing are probably the only fields that prefer work experience before studying for a master's degree.

Jordan Said:

Do you think its best for a person to choose prior work experience over College degree?

We Answered:

I think both are preferred.

Get an AA and then work for a few years.

College opens your mind to new ideas, makes you more tolerate to diversity, and helps you think outside the box. Work gives you real world experience which can't be taught in school.

Work experience and college degree....?

We Answered:

I am a college graduate in Mechanical Engineering and I graduated last year. so I may have some advice to offer you....

First of all, I feel sorry very sorry for you, because you are probably about to go through what I went through this last year.

It is nearly impossible to get a job without experience. I have applied to over 300 jobs in the last 6 months and I have been interviewed twice. and no job offers, what so ever!

Employers dont even care about your education at all in the engineering field. all they care about is your experience. and since you have none (as I also had none) you might as well be just some bum off the street applying for the job. Almost every job description out there will say "BS Degree or equivalent experience, must in experienced in... and... and... and..."

in other words, no specific experience = no job.

If you can get into an internship I would highly recommend it. you should re-arrange your schedule if at all possible to make this happen, or you will likely be unemployed after graduation. or perhaps you will be working with several other college graduates making sure soup cans are facing the correct direction at your local supermarket.

Once you graduate you are probably inelligible for any internships. Those are usually for active college students who have not graduated yet only.

Once you get out of college you will probably have to start at the bottom, doing some manual labor that doesnt take a degree and then work your way up into a higher position. At least that is what I am trying to do now.

Ive a college degree, two yr work experience, and great credentials.Time for more professional career! Advice?

We Answered:

You've got the motivation and experience which is good, but two years experience doesn't make you stand out much. You should always be looking for a better career.
