Cover Letter For Work Experience

Brittany Said:

Work Experience, Cover Letter?

We Answered:

Ok - first off they'll be impressed by a resume alone - waitressing isn't usually something you'd need a resume for.

The cover letter should be a short summary of your resume that tells why you would be a good fit for this job.

Since you have no waitressing experience - the Marriott is reaching a little high - they might hire you in the family dining room. You want to make sure that you put that you are a people person, have great memory skills and the ability to multi-task which will come in handy with keeping track of multiple orders.

I would think, however, that work experience week should be tailored to whatever you are in school for?? Or do you mean K-10 being 10 year student?

Billie Said:

Writing a Cover Letter for Work Experience at a Magazine?

We Answered:

Keep it brief. Honest.
When hiring people (my job) I look for people that have experience in life skills eg. hobbies or lessons they have been involved in because their childhood is what made them the way they are today. An athlete that is experienced in group sports ( teamwork) is different than an athlete that performs on their own eg. gymnastics, ballet (ability and confindence to work on their own.) These are just vague examples but they do give insight to people. Therefore telling more about yourself than words alone.

Terry Said:

What do you write in the second paragraph of your cover letter if you have no work experience?

We Answered:

Sure you do, your experience might not have been formal, or paid, but it is experience. Your school work, as it would affect any job first, then leave room for school studies that would affect whatever specific job.

Play up all of the positives, it is the truth after all, and one thing the Boss likes to see is that you know what IS positive, and you have enough ambition to achieve it. Don't bother with negatives, the Boss doesn't need to know what you can't do, he is looking for whatever you CAN do.

Look at yourself the way you believe the Boss would look at you.
Picture yourself as the owner of a business, you have X amount of job openings for the summer, you probably have 3X amount of applicants for these jobs. Try to think what he wants the most and how your experiences meet that need. Then what he needs the second most, and the third. If you lay it out in that order, then he also knows that you are trying to meet the needs of his workplace.

He is in business to make money, so you need to let him know that you can make the money for him.

Georgia Said:

what are some things i can put down in my cover letter asking for work experience?

We Answered:

It sounds as if you have other work experience. Write about the types of experiences you've had that are relevant to the radio station job, like being dependable and trustworthy and responsible -- those are really important. If the job requires that you meet people or talk on-air, write about your experiences in meeting and dealing successfully with people or any public speaking experience you've had. You get the idea. Best wishes with your job application.
