Drama Work Experience

Lynn Said:

I have work experience soon and i'd like to do something to do with drama. Any ideas?

We Answered:

You may find this quite tricky, since there are likely to be far more people wanting to do drama than there are theatres which can take you on - your best bet is to start now by contacting all the local theatres you could conceivably travel to and asking them if they could help you. Be aware that, as an untrained work experience student, your contribution is likely to involve fetching and carrying and making cups of tea, but if you're lucky enough to get a place then you'll learn a great deal about how things really work behind the scenes.

Ask your drama teacher for advice on this as well, she may have other ideas for you such as helping out a local amateur group.

Work experience in drama?

We Answered:

I did two things,

first week, I worked at my local theatre BIG MISTAKE I collected tickets and painted a wooden box, lol Im not saying this for all theatres but cause i was a student on work experience they took me as a mug,

so second week I got togeather with a fellow media student and created a documentary on work experince, we went round to where other students were working and i presented and co produced, best fun ever lol,

so my advice is this, try the theatre, but if you hate it create your own work experince like i did gd luck

Irene Said:

Where do you go for Drama work experience?

We Answered:

Hello! I am a Theatre Minor in college. The best advice I can currently give you is this:

If you are in middle/high school, participate in as many school productions as you can. It is a great way to gain experience early on and prepare you for the Theatrical world.

If you are in college, take a few Theatre classes when you can get them, but unless you have prior experience, make sure that they are not too difficult.

Participating in a local Theatre group in your city/town is also a great way to get a feel for what Theatrical work is all about. They take all ages, and do a variety of different plays with many different roles and professions.

I hope this was beneficial to you and I wish you the best of luck in your studies. :)

Ralph Said:

Where can I do my Drama work experience?

We Answered:

You need to do all the theatre you can. They do not want you to do accounting, that is dumb. Your goal should be to join the National Youth Theatre. In the meanwhile, join Stage Coach or something.

Louis Said:

What is a good place for work experience if I'm interested in Drama?

We Answered:

Besides theatre I would say TV production companies, theatrical agents, magazines or papers that cover film/theatre, regional screen agencies etc, etc. A good one-stop resource is the Contacts 2011 book or the Writers and Artists Yearbook. Library's often have a copy somewhere.

A few questions about drama work experience?

We Answered:

Backstage defiantly. It's so much fun, and although I'm usually IN the plays, I love helping out backstage if I'm not on, lol.

and yes i think that means you can only apply for one week!
