Fashion Industry Work Experience Under 18?

We Answered:

It's unlikely you'd get any work experience in the fashion industry if you're under 18, most magazines only take over 18's doing work experience to help them with uni. Also, judging by your grammar in the above question, working at a magazine probably isn't the best thing for you.

Work experience...help?

We Answered:

I'm also in year 10 and have arranged to do work experience in a theatre. You want to do it somewhere different, bu i guess the procedure is the same.
You should go to all the local shops in the area where you could imagine yourself working and then and ask to speak to a manager or someone with a high authority and ask them upfront about work experience. Calling may work but it is much better to personally visit the places because then they see that you are dedicated. Definitely do not email shops because people usually ignore emails (from my own experience.) I think you should just go to the shops, even if they do not say anything about it on their website. The more shops you ask, the more likely you are to find a good one that does work experience.
Also you need to make sure you really want to do it in a clothes shop. Unless you are really interested in it you could find yourself bored.
Do any of your friend's parents work in fashion, maybe you could ask them about a placement? Or maybe try something different?
If you are really keen on this idea then go for it! But be prepared to persevere!
Good Luck ( :
