One thing to be very careful about. You asked how you can find your Mom a job. To the extent that you help her, try to be invisible. Employers tend to be suspicious when someone helps another person (younger, older, family, friend -- doesn't matter) find a job. At my last company, the CEO eliminated one candidate who had just broken his leg and had a big cast on ... he didn't like the fact that his Mom gave him a ride and sat out in the lobby. So, how can you help your Mom? One suggestion -- there are support groups for older job seekers in every city I've ever lived in. Try to find one so your Mom can get the advice & support she needs. I am having the same problem in Michigan. My odds are better playing the Mega Millions and winning than obtaining a job in Michigan.

Since you stated you have excellent qualifications. Management finds that you are going to steal his or her promotion from them. My recommendation is to observe how employees do their work. Go to the job interview and state how the current workforce is performing and how you can make it better or different.

As I posted in your previous iteration of this question, Easy if you're at a "senior" level in the tech fields (VP, Gen. Mgr, Senior Engineer). Otherwise the jobs picture isn't too good. Some seasonal stuff may open soon but will probably fill with "returnees" from last year and hungry locals grabbing for any job.
