Forensic Psychology Work Experience

Wesley Said:

Should I do a PhD or work towards being a Chartered Psychologist?

We Answered:

A good job or a good education. Or both. In the long run how would you feel ultimately without one or the other? Would you be able to live with yourself after having earned and payed for the higher PhD or would you be satisfied with the other lesser hard to reach Chartership. Are you willing to make the sacrifice of 3 years to obtain the PhD? And if you are willing are you able? I would go for it if I were able. I can tell you that it is better to have and not want then to want and not have. You will be able to work almost all of your life. You wont have the opportunity to obtain a higher education all your life. Are you just finding a way to procrastinate. Dont. Go for the PhD. I think you will feel better with yourself.

You will have get a background criminal & security service check - be honest if you have a murky past - most things are forgiven!

Work Experience for Psychology?

We Answered:

You mean you want to go on to grad school? The best opportunities are not outside of college (work) but inside. Esp if you want your PhD you need to obtain some kind of research experience. Write as many publications and get as much experience there. Then maybe you can get a paid research position at some company somewhere else. You probably wont get anything from your school as theyre not going to hire a research assistant when they can get students for free. Because schools are so competitive these days its not an option. YOU NEED RESEARCH EXPERIENCE. Again, you didnt provide enough information, so I can get into major specifics.
