It depends on your nominated occupation. If the assessment authority for your nominated occupation is the Australian Computer Society (ACS), you must have a degree with a strong IT major and 4 years professional level experience. If your occupation is assessed by VETASSESS, then a degree and 1 year's experience is acceptable.

If the experience builds upon itself, then you can count it. Otherwise you just did the same few months over and over again. It's like running a mile on a track versus on a road. You ran a mile either way but on the track you really didn't go anywhere.
