Language Work Experience

Beth Said:

Does anyone have any experience with Language Link in Russia?

We Answered:

Yea, they're not a bad school. I used to work for them too, in Saint Petersburg. Most people go to Moscow, but i really hate that city - for my taste it is far too busy and noisy and crowded. i much prefer the slower easy-going pace of Saint Petersburg.

Working for Language Link is a relatively good experience, and as a large school they have the ability to pay for travel and they have a really good training program i think you'll like. I'm still in Saint Petersburg even now, where i started my own language school after i quit LL. if you have any specific questions about them or Russia in general, please feel free to email me on my website
http://www.theenglishexpress.ru and if you are planning to end up in Saint Petersburg, i'll probably meet you when i go into the center for my Russian lessons - in which case you should bring me a couple bottles of A&W rootbeer and a bottle of Vicks Nyquil!!!! please!!!

Carl Said:

What work experience can language students do in 6th form? I want to go abroad but i dont know where to start!?

We Answered:

Hey. It is difficult to get work experience abroad, partly due to the cost of getting there and staying there for a week! You can search on the internet for placements as they generally last for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately they aren't always cheap and some don't cover accommodation. Your best bet is to wait until you've started uni if you plan on continuing a language to that level, as they'll have so many more opportunities then for you to get to grips with the language. If you really want to go abroad, you could get some friends together who do the same course and split the cost between you? You don't necessarily have to do work experience to practice the language, and it would be fun!
Good luck and I hope this has helped xx

I want to study Politics/International relations etc.and a language at Uni, what work experience should I do ?

We Answered:

You could do some volunteer work at the citizens advice bureau, or even work with those that translate languages...whatever one you're interested in or some campaign volunteering for whatever interests you.
