Nothing until you are in law school. Any legal work experience you gain before law school will be of little help during or after law school. All you need to focus on is the two most important law school admissions factors: College GPA and LSAT; these two and not work experience is the key to getting into a good law school.

My recollection of my own children doing work experience was that the school guided the pupil to suitable businesses.
That was some 20 years ago, so if things have changed, get on the phone and ask around solicitors in the city.

A week? I've never heard of anyone doing that in any field, but you might ask your counselor. Certainly that wouldn't be considered work experience (it would take longer than that to train you to do anything meaningful), but maybe you could job shadow for a day or so. I work in a department which has a business law undergraduate major, and it is difficult to find a law firm which will hire an undergraduate college student to work for them in an internship. Most of them will only hire law students.

I think that you should be supportive of your friend. Plenty of people work their way through college, including law school, at restaurants. Her dream is not far from reality in the least. Be postive.

You can email him and say exactly what you said here.

If he doesn't want you to do it this year, ask him if there is anyone else he would recommend you working with instead.
Also, if he doesn't want you working for him again DON'T TAKE IT PERSONALLY. There are many times in a law office that having an inexperienced intern would not be helpful, such as when they are right in the middle of working on some BIG case and they know they won't have the time to work with you properly.

Maybe. For the most part all firms will mostly care about are law school grades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!cannot emphasize that enough. Unless you go to a small law firm that pays peanuts then grades not are not so important.
