Hello!
I want to go there next year too haaha! I hope i see you there!
I'm in the same boat BUT i dont think you HAVE to do a course in art and design as long as your doing related subjects?
I read that they prefer arty subjects such as: media, photography, art, graphics etc. So just apply anyway :)
Just mention this all in your personal statement! I mean i have none of that sadly - you're really lucky to have that! And i live right next to newcastle too though i reaaally want to get out of the north east =/
Anyway good luck! And i'll hopefully see you next year :)

Anyone know what I should expect at London Fashion Week 2009?

We Answered:

It depends which department of the agency you're doing the work experience with - the scouts, agents, photographers, etc. Work experience usually just involves running errands for the person (or people) you're working with. This could be stuff like arranging taxis, checking lists, filing, photocopying, and other general admin duties.

As for what to wear, keep it simple. If you over-do it with big accessories, bold colours or statement pieces; you'll call attention to yourself and possibly feel uncomfortable.

Personally, I'd go for something classic like nicely fitted black trousers or a pencil skirt. Tops shouldn't be too low-cut or glitzy - this is unprofessional - and shoes should be smart, clean and comfortable. (Stillettos might look great but if you're running around all day, your feet will appreciate a lower heel!)

Keep jewellery to a minimum - just a simple necklace, earrings and a nice watch or bracelet is fine. (Who wants to be known as the girl who wears massive gold hoops or armfuls of noisy bangles?)

It's the same for hair and make-up - less is more. Hair should be neat, not falling all over your face. At your age, you should be able to get away with very little make-up. Try a light base of tinted moisturiser (not thick orange foundation), a little blush and mascara. Dark eye-shadow and Amy Winehouse eyeliner is inappropriate. Lipgloss is better than ruby red lipstick for work.

Behind the scenes at London Fashion Week is always hectic and extremely busy, but also great fun. Keep calm and enjoy it :)
