Without work experience, you may get lucky and land yourself a perfect job, but most employers who are offering a very competitive opporotunity will be drawn to potential employees with backgrounds dealing with people in workplaces similar to their own.

So while you would not have a problem finding a job, you may not be labeled as "competitve" as you are hoping to be until you have a few successful job experiences under your belt.

...but as with all "real world" adventures, nothing is set in stone and you won't really know until you get out and try! You don't lose points for a company turning you down, so go out there and try for as many as you can! Maybe you'll just get lucky.

And after all, if you land a decent job with your first attempt, you then, all of a sudden, will have job experience (and possibly very qualified job experience) after. Then, you will be seen as very competitive in whatever industry or market you choose to enter.

The MBA isn't the only available masters in business. You can also obtain a masters in each discipline of business, finance, economics et cetra. And within each Masters program there is usual a thesis and a non thesis option. In order to apply for Phd admissions some schools do require a thesis but you will definitely have to have a masters first.

In terms of actual work experience, when apply for an masters program versus an MBA work experience is not weight as heavily. The work experience part really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to focus on research than work experience is not weight as heavily. If you want to be a professor and teach a class on investment analysis actual work experience may help.

Most MBA programs prefer students with 2-3 years work experience after the first degree. An MBA can enhance your career if it is from a quality respected school. As to what kind of MBA, you may have a choice of full-time, part-time, accelerated, or distance learning program. The MBA is a general degree preparing students for management positions in any level of a business, up to CEO. MBA students study accounting, finance, marketing, management, statistics, economics, strategy, policy, and other courses. Many MBA programs offer concentrations in these and many other fields, but that amounts to only 2-3 courses in your chosen field in the second year of study. What are the average entrance exam scores of the students? For instance, if students take the GMAT, is their average below 550 or above 580? What are the starting salaries of graduates? Does the school have a good career placement service? How many graduates have job offers within 3 months of graduation? Do most students have 2-4 years work experience before starting the program?
