Annie Said:

Newspaper work experience?

We Answered:

Any experience is good experience. A lot more talent than the next person, however, is needed to be super successful in the profession.

Alice Said:

What questions should I ask at work experience in a newspaper office?

We Answered:

Ask the basics,,Who,what, when, where, why and how many sugars in your tea

Frank Said:

I have enquired about work experience to my local newspaper but so far I have had no response. What do I do?

We Answered:

Avoid email for things like this - it comes across as sloppy and unprofessional. Write a letter - or even better give them a call, that way you will get a direct answer

Bernard Said:

If I want to seek work experience with a newspaper publication co.?

We Answered:

You don't say what type of work you are seeking, but in most cases, if you are seeking writing experience, on smaller newspapers, you would contact the editor with some of your clips.

Jim Said:

Sending application for work experience in a newspaper co.?

We Answered:

Your best bet would be to call the individual paper and find out who would normally handle resumes - find out a specific person's name, and send your stuff to them directly. Sometimes that's someone in HR, sometimes that's the managing editor, sometimes that's the editor-in-chief. No matter what, be politely persistent.

And keep in mind, sending stuff to a generic editor/HR rep is a recipe for getting your application at the bottom of the pile or in the trash. They expect you'll be able to do a certain amount of legwork and research by yourself.

Leah Said:

Does anyone know i f i can get work experience in a newspaper?

We Answered:

Yes you can usually get a good position. Apply to local newspapers (everyone has to start somewhere); as they are small with usually few staff, you will be given some interesting things to work on. National newspapers probably won't have you, and even if they did you really would be making cups of tea.

Calvin Said:

what do you wear for work experience at a local newspaper?

We Answered:

yes, ok for slacks and a top..just not jeans. it is after all work.
why not stop in a day before you start and see what the others are wearing...
