Nursing Work Experience

Pedro Said:

Does anyone know if I can work in a nursing home with no experience? ?

We Answered:

Yes, you can. In fact, there are some who will pay for you to go through CNA classes. Many will hire with no experience and train on the job. You may also be able to find a job in the kitchen or actually serving the food. I worked as an Office Manager in a home and we did hire with little or no experience.

You will have to have a clean criminal background and pass a physical. More than likely you will have to be willing to work nights, overnights, weekends and holidays. It depends on how they schedule, but since they are 365/24/7, they will often need you to be very flexible in your hours.

You can work your way up to a med tech, once you go to school for training. If you really want to increase your salary, go to your local community college and become an LPN. My sister-in-law did that and she makes great money in a home.

You should visit the homes in your area and ask for an application from each one. Fill each app. in thoroughly and then return them as soon as you can. Also look into assisted livings and retirement homes. Sometimes, these places are combined, having different services for different levels, sometimes they are strictly a nursing home or only retirement. It really depends. Many of our local homes have short-term wings for people who need rehab.

So, check out all you can!

Good luck! I miss my "older folks." :)

how can i get nursing work experience when i am 17?

We Answered:

Candy striper is volunteer. And since they're on the inside, they can get to the job board in the staff room. Businesses tend to hire internally first so that's your best bet. You could also work in a daycare. I know that would be just kids but it's still some form of health care. That's where I started.
I am now a CMT-CNA at a local nursing home at 20years old.

nursing work experience?

We Answered:

You could try applying for a nursing assistant in that area of the hospital or apply as patient care technician, you may need to take a short class to do that job, though.

What to wear for nursing work experience?

We Answered:

You don't have to wear all white scrubs! THAT'S OLD SCHOOL! They have nice pattern scrubs with original designs or solid colored scrubs that are both professional and crisp looking!

Naomi Said:

can a Bsc nurse with relevent working experience in nursing, work as a LPN.what further requirements are needed?

We Answered:

Iaasume you have your RN license? That would be ENTIRELY up to the entity hiring. You would however, probably not receive more pay than the job position was funded for and you would have to be very careful to not exceed the job description's scope of practice (for legal reasons). That is, if the LPN job did not involve doing something that you could do as a RN, you could not do that under the color of the job as written for a LPN. However, your duties would have to be clearly spelled out by you & the employer in this sort or situation.
