Technically, less than 40 hours a week. That's fairly open.So, all that you suggest would be a part-time job. A 7-hour day would give you 35 hours a week, which is about as much as you can get before hitting full time in America.
The average part-time job has about 24 hours a week, so 4 to 5 hours a day is appropriate. Or you may be working only 3 days a week at 8 hours.
There is no uniform definition for part-time. If it's not full-time (40 hours), then it's part-time.
Many companies will have reduced benefits for part-time work. Less than 20 hours means no benefits, while 30 hours means you pay more for insurance and receive less vacation time. That varies from state to state.
