I don't live near you, but take my advice, you are the one who is going to live YOUR life, not your mother. The worst thing a person can do with their life is to do what other people want them to do. You have to follow your dreams because only you can make them happen. Tell your mother that you want to do this because this is what is going to make YOU happy and ask her to help you to fulfill your dream.

Too many parents try to live their children's lives for them vicariously and should respect the interestes and goals of the child so long as they are worthy goals - which I think yours is. The parents real responsiblity is to help "make it happen." At least you HAVE a goal in life and that is better than most kids these days who don't know a turnip from their eyeball.

I do not think you are going to find anything. People are even reluctant to let university sophomores in physics have any kind of experience in it. You have a lot to learn before you can do really anything, even a little. You will get experience in college. Before, I have absolutely no ideas on where you could look. having a high school student help with physics is pretty much out of the question. You will see why when you get to college and have some internships. I like your motivation though. You will have to stand out on a college app in other ways, since high school physics experience is just not feasible.

Edit: maybe NASA has some high school program or something, you might try there. On their website, look under 'education' if they have a tab like that in their navigation, or 'outreach,' 'programs,' 'for students,' etc.

There are various forms of energies.
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
Living organisms seem to create energy.
Careful analysis will lead that they do not create energy.
In reality, they convert one form of energy into another form.

Thus what is happening with all kinds of matter is that one form of energy is converted into another form. In this process, we conserve energy; for every loss of energy there will be equal gain of energy and hence the total energy remains the same.
This is the law of conservation of energy.

Hence in Physics we always speak of energy transfer alone. That is energy spent or gained by objects.

In Physics each quantity has a precise definition.

While there are numerous forms of transfer of energy, the loss or gain of mechanical energy can be brought up only by a force moving through some displacement.

In mechanics energy spent or gained by an object can be stored as potential energy or kinetic energy, to transfer mechanical energy from potential into kinetic or kinetic into potential a force is always needed and there must be a displacement.
In Physics we exclusively use the term 'work' to refer only the transformation of mechanical energy, (A force displaced through some distance)

Whereas in day to day life, it is used for any kind of energy transformation and there is no strict definition for any of the words used.

Once a word is defined in physics, Physics cannot be altering the definitions according to the day to day life.

Whereas people has to refer to Physics while they are using words.

While in day to day life, people are at liberty to change the words and meaning haphazardly. Physics cannot do it; it is growing only with well defined terms.
In Physics long ago the word "work" had been defined to refer only the mechanical energy transfer by a force. Now it cannot change its definition which will lead to utter confusion.
