Placement Year Jobs

Zachary Said:

websites where job placement after graduation and 4-year graduation rates of Universities are posted?

We Answered:

Well, most 4-year universities don't do "job placement". They have career advising offices, but you're not placed....that's up to you and your freshly-minted degree. Some technical schools do have job placement....maybe that's what you're thinking of?

Also, if you do find this sort of data, you have to keep in mind that it changes because it's all dependent on the economy. The economy and job markets are crap right now, so numbers would be lower, and who knows what the economy will be like in 4 years. And if numbers are just a year or two old, they aren't fully reflecting the current situation. Also, a low "job placement" rating could also be a reflection of a high number of graduates getting into graduate school, which is a good thing.

In terms of graduation rates, I guess you could call, but it's not really that important. Whether or not someone graduates college really depends on the individual student, and not the school.

how much would a 17 year old male pay to insure a mitsubishi 3000GT?

We Answered:

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.deep-ice.com

What are some jobs that give you advanced placement because of a degree?

We Answered:

The military - definitively.

Note: don't take psychology unless you are going to be a doctor with the extra years. Just trust me on that. Without the doctorate psy is usless.
Also sociology was rated by yahoo finance as the 3rd lowest paying degrees.

History majors are not finding jobs - unless it's in teaching.

Don't you have better career options?

What degree would looked at as being worth more. Social politics bsc in the u.k with a one year placement or?

We Answered:

You have a really interesting question and a very focuused one for that matter. Consider two candiates : onw with an MA and the other with a BSc plus one year placement. Your question is how would the one year placement be valued in relation to the one year Master's study. First, all other things being equal (ie., the relative scores ib BSc and MA being similar), the MA candiate will be preferred for academic/ research positions. For other positions/ jobs, it will depend on the assessment of the actual practical work done post BSc and its impact on the maturity and expertise of the BSc candidate. So, the BSc candiadate will be evaluated/ tested for the worth of the job exposure. So, much will depend on the how the BSc cansdiate's ability to demostrate the increased capability/ skills due to one year of work experience. The job interview will be tougher for the BSc candidate.
But since it is merely a question of one year, for large organisations an MA may be prferred simply because after a further one year period the MA with one year work experience on the job may be in some cases viewed as a better future resource than a BSC with 1+1=2 years' work experience. So, it is not going to be easy for the BSc. However, smaller firms paying lower saklary may try to economise on costs by making the first offer to the BSc by offering a lower pay than it would have offered to an MA. So you cannot have a simple straight answer to the question about whose job prospects are bettet: it all depends on the nature of the job, the maturity of the candidates, their relative brilliance, the paying capacity and employment policy of the emplyer, etc.

Job by Reference + 1 year salary as Placement Fees?

We Answered:

Hello Seema,

I am not sure why do you want to offer one year salary as placement fee. Here's what I suggest:

- Get a good resume up asap. I would not mind going to a professional for this. Highlight your project/research work in your resume.
- Get it reviewed by some of your seniors/mentors or even professors or past collegues
- Keep your references ready
- Post you resume on top IT job sites, yahoo groups, spaces and google groups
- Share your resume with IT recruitment agencies in your target region
- Also share your resume with people in your personal network, say cousins, friends, seniors
- Read good books in interview techniques and group discussions
- Keep building your skills by some part time projects or courses while you are waiting for your first offer.
- Last but not the least, have patience and do not lose your confidence. Also beware of accepting any job that comes your way. Analyse, it should fall in your short term and long term career aspirations. Apart from good salary, a great work environment, opportunity to learn and freedon of thoughts are important factors. So do not compromise.

Send me your resume, I can try refering your resume to a couple of companies in Bangalore.
All the best!
